James Comey's book about Trump is filmed with Brendan Gleeson and Jeff Daniels



The Irish actor Brendan Gleeson is to play in a TV miniseries the American President Donald Trump. The production company CBS Studios announced the cast for the planned four-hour series on Monday on Twitter. The 64-year-old Gleeson is known, among others, from "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" (in which he played Alastor's "Mad-Eye" Moody) and "Edge of Tomorrow".

  
  

The production is based on the book "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership" by former FBI chief James Comey. In German it appeared under the title "Greater Than the Office: In Search of Truth – the ex-FBI director accuses". Comey describes Trump as a man without a moral compass and a notorious liar who leads the country in the style of a mafia boss. Comey was released by Trump in May 2017, and the book was published in April 2018. It became a bestseller.

  

Filming of the mini-series is scheduled to begin in November. The script is from "Captain Phillips" author Billy Ray.

The role of James Comey will be taken over by actor and multiple Emmy winner Jeff Daniels. The 64-year-old has played in "The Newsroom" and "Dumm und Dümmer".

  

Comeys former deputy Andrew McCabe is said to be played by Michael Kelly (Doug from "House of Cards"), according to CBS; Comey's wife Patrice by Jennifer Ehle.
